The Secrets of Gall Bladder and Liver Disease

My Gall Bladder and Liver Cleansing Story

March 2007

I’ve been having discomfort under my right rib cage for some time now, nothing too intrusive, just noticeable. I started drinking Gall Bradder Tea. Yes the spelling is correct. I buy it in town at the Chinese Grocers. Whenever I begin to experience irritation I drink a half a box or so and it seems to stop for a while but always comes back after a couple of days. The discomfort is a classic symptom of gallstones.

I looked up the other symptoms of gall bladder disease, which include indigestion, bloating, gassy and nauseated feeling. The symptoms can be brought on or made worse by eating fried, greasy, oily or fatty foods. In acute cases, severe and recurring pain is experienced (the gall bladder is located on the right side of your body and pain can occur on your right side, in your lower back, and front of your abdomen), along with nausea and vomiting. In some cases people with gall bladder disease also have sensitivities to eggs. I noticed recently, every time I begin to prepare eggs, I immediately sense mild discomfort under my right ribcage. My gallbladder is already pumping, before the eggs are even cooked!

Gall bladder stones, which can be anywhere from tiny sludgy bits to a stone 7.5 cm in diameter don’t usually cause problems or symptoms as long as they stay in the gall bladder. If they get stuck in the bile ducts they cause irritation, or worse, inflammation of the gall bladder, called acute cholecystitis or inflammation of the pancreas, called pancreatitis.  In some cases, bile back-up can cause liver symptoms such as fever and chills, coffee-colored urine and jaundice. If you have any of these serious symptoms please seek help from your doctor immediately.

Gallstones are made of three things, cholesterol, lecithin and bile salts. There is a phrase commonly used to describe the standard gallstone patient, a tad insulting, ‘The Four F’s, forty year old, fat, fertile and female.’

These days, a gall bladders are alarmingly being removed in younger and younger patients, some as young as twelve years old.

Liver and Gall Bladder with stones

Let’s look deeper at why your gall bladder is congested with gall stones

Forty years of age ~ You’ve definitely had time to accumulate a lot of congestion and stones in your gall bladder if you’ve had a lifetime of high cholesterol animal food consumption.

Fat ~ Weight gain raises cholesterol levels.  A person who is overweight, has probably been eating a high fat, animal food, hence high cholesterol diet for quite some time.  Of course their cholesterol levels will be higher.  High cholesterol levels cause the gall bladder to contract less frequently, making the bile more concentrated, causing buildup and gallstone formation.

Female ~ Females are twice as likely to develop gall bladder disease as men.  Why? Here’s where the fertile part comes in.

Fertile ~ This is obviously the hormone connection.  This is the part I don’t understand so I pull out all the information on gallbladder disease and lo and behold “the estrogen connection” becomes clear.  Here’s the link – one of the functions of estrogen is to signal the liver to remove larger amounts of cholesterol from the blood, which then accumulate in the gallbladder – forming – you guessed it – gallstones.

The role hormones play in gall bladder disease, gallstones and fatty liver

Higher estrogen levels come from some very well known and familiar sources.  Milk from a cow, and all the products made from it including yogourt, cheese and ice cream, has its own natural hormones, used by a baby cow to grow large bones and a massive body. It should be consumed in moderation, or not at all, depending on your situation. At the time of writing, U.S. dairy products are from cows fed synthetic estrogens. If you have to eat beef make sure its organic.

Another source of synthetic estrogen is found in birth control and hormone replacement therapy.  If you are a middle age woman, your female teens may be on birth control and you may be on HRT.  If you are well informed,  you might not be as quick to take birth control or HRT.

Could there be a correlation between the widespread use of synthetic hormones in birth control, hormone replacement therapy, and growth hormone used in livestock and the increasing rates of gallbladder disease?  The extensive use of birth control in younger women would certainly explain why they are experiencing gallstones at such an early age.  The mixture of a high animal fat, high cholesterol diet and the use of synthetic hormones is a perfect recipe for gallstones and congested or fatty liver.

Lastly, pesticides produce estrogen-like activities in biological tissue. If they affect hormone levels in insects how can we possibly think they don’t affect hormone levels in humans? Absurd! The fact is that we know pesticides affect hormone levels enough to cause breast and other cancers. In May of 2009, The Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants added nine more chemicals, including lindane, to its globally banned list. Lindane is still used by Canadian mothers on their children’s heads to control head lice.

It is so important for us to realize how much control we have over our own health, if we have the knowledge about how to look after ourselves.

Today I would like to find out the diagnostic procedure for identifying gallstones.  A simple check on the internet provides the information I need.  Gallstones are diagnosed through ultrasound.  That’s not too invasive a procedure so I think I’ll call my physician and see what her nurse has to say.  I talk to the nurse who tells me she just had an ultrasound for the same reason.

I ask her what would happen if I had gallstones.  “Well, we would book you for surgery,” she replies. “Is that the only solution?” I ask.  “Yep,” she answers flatly.

“Is there any way I would be able to see the ultrasound results?”  “Well, you can ask the doctor for the results, she’ll probably tell you what they are.”

I’m almost finished my second bottle of Gold Coin Grass.  I take five pills, three times a day.  I don’t always take all three doses, but I usually get in two doses at least.

I wonder what the Compendium of Pharmaceuticals and Specialties, The Canadian Reference for Health Professionals, says about birth control pills and gall bladder disease.  It’s a huge book, around 2000 pages, that lists all the pharmaceuticals in Canada, and relevant information.

The book lists indications, when the drug should be prescribed; and contraindications, other things the drug interacts with, so when it should be avoided.  It also lists warnings, which are things you should know about, for instance “in low risk, non-smoking women of any age, the benefits of oral contraceptive use outweigh the possible cardiovascular risks associated with low dose formulations”.

“Ortho® 1.35, Ortho® 0.5/35, Ortho® 10/11, Ortho® 7/7/7, Janssen-Ortho, Norethindrone-Ethinyl Estradiol, Oral Contraceptive.  Under Adverse Effects, ‘An increased risk of the following serious adverse reactions has been associated with the use of oral contraceptives: thrombophlebitis; pulmonary embolism, mesenteric thrombosis, neuro-ocular lesions, e.g. retinal thrombosis; myocardial infarction; cerebral thrombosis; cerebral hemorrhage; hypertension; benign hepatic tumors; gallbladder disease; congenital anomalies.'”

Lets analyze this information.  I agree, they are serious adverse effects, some are even fatal. The thought of adverse effects brings to mind a skin rash or maybe a headache, but myocardial infarction – that’s a heart attack.  I think this is definitely a case of ‘the cure is worse than the disease’.  Remember the compendium says, “the benefits of oral contraceptive use outweigh the possible cardiovascular risks”.  Does this mean that it’s more desirable to have a heart attack than a child?

Checking the Tabers Cyclopedic Medical Dictionary for the description of ‘adverse effects’ …

“Adverse reaction:  In pharmacology and therapeutics, an undesired side effect or toxicity caused by the administration of drugs.  Onset may be sudden or take days to develop.  Early detection by use of laboratory tests is sometimes possible in the case of drugs that might adversely effect the blood-forming organs, liver or kidneys.  It is important for health care personnel to be aware of the specific potential for adverse reactions of each and every drug.”

Here is a description of the side effects of taking oral contraceptives:

Thrombophlebitis: Inflamed vein with an obstructing blood clot, usually starts in a lower extremity such as a leg, potentially fatal.

Pulmonary embolism: Blood clot in one of the arteries leading into the lung, usually caused by a blood clot from the leg, potentially fatal.

Mesenteric thrombosis: Blood clot in the connecting tissue of the small intestine, potentially fatal.

Neuro-ocular lesions, e.g. retinal thrombosis: Blood clot in the retina of the eye, the innermost layer which receives images, resulting in vision loss.

Myocardial infarction:  Death of part or all of the heart muscle from a, you guessed it, blood clot.  Potentially fatal.  I think we’re starting to see a pattern here.

Cerebral thrombosis: Blood clot in the artery leading to the brain, the worst of which is a debilitating stroke or death.

Cerebral hemorrhage:  Bleeding of the brain… that’s definitely not better than having a child.

Hypertension:  High blood pressure in the arteries, more than 140 over 90.

Benign hepatic tumors:  Non-malignant tumors of the liver.  While, at least they are not malignant, which means they are not progressive, they don’t spread.  So if we keep taking birth control pills, it only stands to reason that non-malignant tumors could continue to form in our liver.  This doesn’t sound too beneficial to the function of one of the most important organs in our body.

Congenital anomalies:  Abnormal form, structure or position or an organ or structure, present at birth.  When a woman accidentally becomes pregnant while taking birth control pills there is a chance her child will be born with an abnormality of some sort.

And lastly…

Gallbladder disease:  Inflammation of the gall bladder caused by the formation of gallstones.  The stones are most often formed from cholesterol and clog the bile ducts causing bile to concentrate in the gallbladder causing symptoms.  Occasionally the obstruction can cause bile to back up into the gallbladder, liver or pancreas, causing serious problems, even death if not treated.

Given the nature of this journal, lets focus in on only one adverse effect, gallbladder disease. I know I was definitely not told that taking synthetic steroid hormones could cause gallbladder disease.

Here is an entry from PubMed, PMID: 10133133 [PubMed – indexed for MEDLINE] : Marshall D., Clark E., Hailey D.,  The impact of laparoscopic cholecystectomy in Canada and Australia. Swedish Council on Technology Assessment in Health Care, Stockholm.

“The introduction of laparoscopic cholecystectomy in Canada and Australia has been associated in each country with an increase in the rates of all cholecystectomies following a period where these had remained constant. Estimated costs of cholecystectomies to health programs declined by about 13% in Canada after the laparoscopic procedure became widely available, and about 2% in Australia. Days lost to patients because of surgery, and associated costs to them, decreased in each country. Neither country is realising the potential savings through use of laparoscopic cholecystectomy because of the increase in the number of procedures. The utility of these additional operations remains unclear. These trends associated with the advent of laparoscopic cholecystectomy suggest the need for caution in the introduction and application of other minimal-access surgery techniques.”

The removal of gall bladders has increased in Canada and Australia, simply because laparoscopic cholecystectomy was introduced.

April 11th, 2007

I went to my doctor’s today for a consultation regarding symptoms.  They are loose stools, trouble digesting fat, discomfort under right ribcage, insomnia, fatigue, bloating, unable to eat meals without discomfort, acid indigestion.

She books me for an ultrasound. I go and have the procedure but don’t hear back from my doctor and have to assume that there is absolutely nothing wrong with me. I submit to the fact that I don’t have gallstones. I try my best to forget about it but the symptoms just keep increasing.

October 2007

Six months go by, and a rather severe gallbladder attack brings me back to my general physician’s office.

I insist I must have gallstones. She looks up my chart, “You have fatty liver, but only a tiny bit, nothing worth worrying about,” she says.

“Reeally,” I say, while thinking: “I guess rolling around on the bed moaning in pain, not being able to eat ANYTHING without some kind of reaction, or indigestion is normal! Oh my god, what is wrong with me?!”

I leave her office thinking about fatty liver. What does it mean?

What to do … what to do …

I had read about congested liver and gallbladder and the liver gallbladder cleanse in my courses but haven’t had any direct experience with it.

I do extensive research and read numerous testimonials from people who have successfully cleansed their livers and gallbladders. The photographs on the internet of expelled gallstones are quite remarkable while at the same time disgusting. [1]

Giant Gallstone from Gall bladder

Finally I Take The Plunge and Perform My First Cleanse

January 2008

Over the next five months,  I  do four cleanses, and purge close to 400 gallstones. I can’t believe how much junk I’ve accumulated in my liver and gallbladder. The gallstones are anywhere from the size of a grain of coarse salt to two large ‘pebbles’ over 2 centimetres long.

With each cleanse I feel more and more amazing. My energy levels are picking up. My indigestion is disappearing. My body is healing, I feel it.

January 2009

I occasionally experience minor symptoms so I perform the cleanse once more. Another large stone is released as well as about 50 more very tiny ones.

July 2009

My friend tells me about two of her relatives that died recently from Fatty Liver Disease. I consider myself very lucky to have found the Liver and Gallbladder Cleanse. I feel sad for others who don’t know about it.

January 2010

A note of warning before I go on: Please do NOT perform the liver and gall bladder cleanse without first having your physician do an ultrasound to make sure you don’t have very large stones, that could get stuck! Also this cleanse should NEVER be performed if you’ve just had your gall bladder removed. Instead you can help your liver cleanse itself by eating a liver friendly diet: no hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated fats, saturated fats, cooked meat, pasteurized dairy, fried fats, refined carbohydrates. Lots of radishes, celery, lemon, organic raw green leafy vegetables, artichokes and cold pressed unrefined seed and nut oils in moderation.

I haven’t experienced any symptoms since my last cleanse a year ago. My digestion has returned to normal. I’ve lost the spare tire or ‘middle age spread’ of fat that had accumulated around the top of my abdomen, over top of my liver and gallbladder. So … the gallstones were not only in my gall bladder they were also in my liver, hence the diagnosis of fatty liver.

Many others haven’t been as fortunate, in knowing about the effectiveness of performing liver cleanses. Many of my close friends, colleagues and clients have already had their gallbladder removed because of repeated gallbladder attacks.

It means, if we all reduced our intake of gallstone forming foods, like dairy, meat, fried fats, processed and fast foods and altered fats and ate more liver cleansing foods like fresh raw lemon juice, watermelon, celery, radishes, greens, raw fruits and vegetables and avoided unnecessary hormones we wouldn’t have the digestive diseases we do have.

Would you rather do liver cleanses and begin to eat delicious, healing foods that make you feel amazing? Some of the benefits of cleansing your gallbladder and liver include improving your digestion, healing infections, improving absorption in your intestinal lining, improving natural bacterial populations which keeps fungal colonies in check, reducing infections and disease and reducing acid throughout your body.

Another note: Some people say that the expelled stones are  from the oil and juice mixed together and the cleanse is not effective. To see visual evidence, search on Google Images for ‘gallstones in gallbladder’ and the removed gallbladders are spilling over with gallstones. I’m assuming the people who gave up the gall bladders in the pictures weren’t too busy drinking oil and juice in the Liver Gallbladder cleanse before they had their gall bladders surgically removed.

Many people are saying they cleansed gallstones out and feel better afterward, their digestion turns back to normal, they lose weight, their acid problems disappear and they can eat anything they want again.

The liver and gallbladder cleanse I performed to purge out hundreds of ‘gallstones’ and tiny fatty deposits and heal my digestive problems along with all the debilitating symptoms I was experiencing, is included in Cleanse Your Body! [1]

You will also find detailed instructions and critical information to help you understand the symptoms you are experiencing and how cleansing your liver and gallbladder can improve every aspect of your health in Cleanse Your Body! [1]
