Seasoned Multigrain Croutons

Croutons are so easy to make, I can’t believe I bought them for so many years. They make a great topping for casseroles, soups and salads. You can be absolutely sure there are no flavour enhancers like MSG in your own croutons.

Stale 7 grain or other whole grain stick bread Extra Virgin Olive Oil Organic garlic powder Unrefined sea salt [1] or herbal salt Savoury, thyme, or herbal blends like Italian Seasoning

Slice stick about 1/3″ thick (the thickness of a crouton). Cut each slice into cubes. Toss with oil, salt and herbs. Spread out on cookie sheets. Toast in oven at 350°F for 30 minutes or until very dry and slightly golden.

For gluten allergies, just use whole grain rice, quinoa, or other gluten free bread.

If you will be keeping these croutons for a long period, omit the oil as over time it will go rancid. Dried croutons without oil will keep for a long time.

Once completely cool, store in large glass jar with a tight fitting lid.
