Croutons are so easy to make, I can’t believe I bought them for so many years. They make a great topping for casseroles, soups and salads. You can be absolutely sure there are no flavor enhancers like MSG in your own croutons.
Stale 7 grain or other whole grain stick bread
1/4 – 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
organic garlic powder
unrefined sea salt  or herbal salt
savory or thyme (optional)
Slice stick about 1/3″ thick (the thickness of a crouton). Cut each slice into cubes. Toss with oil, salt and herbs. Spread out on cookie sheets, you’ll probably need two. Toast in oven at 250°F for 1 to 1 1/2 hours or until very dry and slightly golden.
For gluten allergies, just use whole grain rice bread instead.
Store in large glass jar.
