Maple Spiced Candied Raw Nuts

I want to share an amazing recipe for raw nuts with you. They are so delicious, and super healthy too.  Raw nuts are packed full of essential oils like Omega 3, 6 and 9, and the oily antioxidant Vitamin E. They provide abundant fibre, great for the health of the digestive system.  They are rich in nutrients that keep your skin glowing and your hair shining.

Raw nuts are coated in enzyme inhibitors which delay the sprouting process until conditions are ideal for growth. Enzyme inhibitors hamper digestion and their acids contribute to kidney stones and other buildup in the body. In small amounts they aren’t troublesome, but it’s best to soak your nuts overnight to remove them.

You will need a dehydrator for this recipe.

If you don’t own one, I suggest you borrow one to make this recipe, because I promise you, you’ll be out buying one in no time.

3 cups raw nuts
1/2 cup maple syrup
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1 tsp ginger

Take one cup each of three kinds of raw nuts. I used pecans, walnuts, and macadamia nuts. Soak overnight.

Rinse and dry nuts. Place in bowl with a lid. Pour maple syrup over top, then sprinkle with cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger. Put lid on bowl and shake until all nuts are coated.

Cut parchment paper to cover dehydrator trays. Be sure not to cover the hole!

Place nuts on parchment, and dehydrate overnight or until dry to the touch.

Store in a glass jar, but they won’t last long!
